UberMedia was founded by Bill Gross in 2010 and is an Idealab startup company based in Pasadena, California.

Bill Gross
Chief Executive Officer

Bill Gross founded UberMedia in 2010 after a series of frustrating experiences tweeting during the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009, the World Economic Forum in Davos and at the annual TED conference in early 2010. Getting lost in the noise of meaningless chatter and unable to easily connect with users interested in finding insightful tweeters from these events, Bill realized there had to be a better way to connect to serious tweeters and followers. Bill took his concept for UberMedia to the Idealab board and several potential investors, all of whom immediately saw its potential.

Bill is also the CEO of Idealab, where he has started over 75 companies. He serves on the boards of directors of numerous companies and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the California Institute of Technology and of the Art Center College of Design. Bill received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology.

Gladys Kong
CTO & General Manager

Throughout Gladys’ 15-year career, she has been dedicated to innovating and developing new ideas within technology startups. Her tenure in technology is extensive: Gladys was CEO and co-founder of GO Interactive, a social gaming firm. Prior to that she was VP of Engineering at Snap.com, and VP of R&D at Idealab where she helped create numerous companies, including Evolution Robotics, Picasa, X1 Technologies, etc.

Gladys holds a B.S. in Engineering & Applied Science from Caltech and a M.S. in Computer Science from UCLA.

John Faieta

John has over fifteen years of experience with Idealab and other venture capital backed start-ups. He is an operationally focused controller, and keeping organizations on budget.

While working with companies such as UberMedia, Idealab, eSolar, CitySearch, and Disney, John has been involved in the fundraising and acquisition process for multiple companies in various stages of development.

John is a licensed CPA and holds an undergraduate degree from Humboldt State University as well as an MBA from Pepperdine.

Michael Hayes
Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer

Hayes joined UberMedia in 2013 to oversee marketing, business and brand development. He is a pioneer in interactive marketing and advertising who brings more than 25 years of expertise to UberMedia.

Prior to joining UberMedia, Hayes was president of digital communications at Initiative, where he responsible for worldwide strategy and oversight of the agency’s digital practice, which served clients such as Hyundai-Kia, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, MillerCoors, LionsGate, Best Western and TurboTax. Prior to Initiative, he spent nearly two decades in digital marketing and sales roles with companies such as the Walt Disney Co., Weightwatchers.com, Buy.com and LATimes.com.

Hayes is a 2012 ADWEEK Media All Star, member of the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4A’s) Privacy Committee and a frequent speaker at national industry gatherings, including the IAB, OMMA, iMedia, Mobile Media Summit, and AdTech.
